Oil Change Overview
Mercedes Benz recommends the use of full synthetic oils in engines built after 1996, and with our experience here at Central Auto Care, we agree. 2006 and later gasoline engines require oils that comply with Specification 229.5
Diesel engines with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) require a “Low SPAsh multigrade service engine oil” (Specification 229.52) . Mobil 1 markets these oils as “ESP” or Emission System Protection oils.
Since 1998 Mercedes Benz uses a electronically controlled, autonomously adaptable automatic transmission. Proper transmission fluids vary according to year and model. There are several different colors of fluid. The colors should not be mixed or substituted.
Transmission Fluid Swap and Measurment
There are some Mercedes Benz transmissions built beginning in 2004 that do not have a measuring dipstick and require special equipment to drain and properly refill the transmission. Central Auto Care highly recommends not attempting a transmission fluid swap without this specialized equipment. Contact Us today and let us help you with handling your Mercedes with care.
